5 Tricks To Eating Healthier While In A Restaurant

Some people love cooking at home, while others, not so much. The truth is even though many people consider cooking at home to be a healthier style of eating, it might not necessarily be the truth. What we mean by this is that even though restaurants have a certain pattern on how they prepare their meals, you can get away with ordering a certain meal to be prepared how you want it to be.

The fact of the matter is that restaurants don’t mind catering to their customers if they are not being overly hard to accommodate and as a customer it is your right to request certain changes in your meal. If a restaurant does not want to accommodate your requests, you can always go out and find another restaurant where they will, but rest assured that at most restaurants some changes are perfectly acceptable for the chef.  So, here are our top 5 tricks on how you can eat healthier while having a meal outside of your home.

Let them know about your special request

Whenever you get inside a restaurant you want to make sure that the first thing you tell the waiter is that you have some special requests and if he could accommodate your needs. Most of the waiters will be more than happy to accommodate you.

Ask for more vegetables

While asking for more meat might get you some strange stares from the waiter, asking for more vegetable won’t even phase them. The vegetables are easy for the chef to accommodate and they are healthy for you, so this is a win-win situation.

Order from the healthier section

If you want to eat healthier you need to treat your body with some discipline. Go to the salad section or the healthier selection where you won’t find foods that are being prepared by drenching them in oil. Order something light without much sauce and with lots of vegetables.

Be aware of the low carb lies

There are many restaurants that offer a low carb menu. While true to its statement they don’t have lots of carbs, this does not mean that they are low-fat. Meaning it might be healthier to order something else like veggie burger.

Order fish

Fish is the ultimate non-fattening food that has tons of omega 3 fats which are good for you. Fish also goes great with almost all vegetables and sauces so you can really spice up your healthy menu with some fish.
